Lady Captain’s Day 2008
Saturday 14th June

This year’s Lady Captain’s Day was a huge success. Twenty-four teams of members and visitors took part in the golf competition, Bushey Hall Golf Challenge, raffle and various evening games and quizzes to raise a fantastic £3,416.23 for Cancer Research UK.

The golf competition was stableford format played off 7/8 handicap. Congratulations to the winners:

Everyone enjoyed the day, and two men golfers in particular really got into the spirit of the day by dressing as ladies. We’ve been having nightmares ever since…

In the evening one of the Lady Captain’s bands, The Unknowns, played two rock and roll sets, which kept everyone dancing until the end of the night. They also contributed to the fundraising by selling copies of their CD for £2 and donating all the proceeds to the Cancer Research UK fund.

A big thank you to all the local companies that supported the charity event by donating the following prizes.

Prizes
Owners of Bushey Hall Golf club, The Veladail Group, arranged for:

• A top of the range Land Rover for a weekend.
  
• The Head Chef of Downhall Country House Hotel to cook a meal for up to four people in their own house, supplying the food, a bottle of champagne and two bottles of red and white wine.
  
• A one night stay in an apartment at the Flemings Mayfair Hotel, including full afternoon tea and breakfast.

Other prizes included:

An 80gb external hard drive – donated by PB Projects

Golfbreaks.com has donated four gift packs, worth over £70 each containing a polo shirt, golf shoe bag, golf towel and £25 of golfbreaks.com gift vouchers.

Cakes of Good Taste from Bushey Heath, donated a delicious cake.

Top Golf Watford provided a Family Executive Membership for one year, worth £60.

Watford Palace Theatre kindly agreed to support our event by donating tickets.

The Maltings Arts Theatre donated a family membership for everyone in the winning team.

Beautifully Active (formerly known as Golf for Her) donated a £25 voucher to spend on clothing in the Amersham-based shop.

Hertsmere Leisure donated a Family Leisure Card for use at Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, opposite Bushey Hall Golf Club.

Flowers and two winning bouquet were supplied by The Two Bees Florists

For a hole-in-one Renault Watford provided a car, golf clubs and a holiday to Portugal. Unfortunately no one won this time!

The bottles of water available on the day will be provided by Costco.

Three personal cosmetic consultations and makeovers were provided by Boots the Chemist, Watford.

A round of golf and overnight stay at The Belfry was donated by Yourgolftravel.com

Play Great Golf provided £45 worth of vouchers for golfbidder.com, as well as some hats and 2 sets of Mac Wet golf gloves. They have also gave us a copy of the Confidence Caddie‘The Seven Secrets of a Highly Successful Golfer’, worth £67.

One of the Lady Captain's bands, Razzle Dazzle, donated a large bottle of whisky and a copy of their CD 'Everybody Razzle Dazzle'.

·Premier Iberian Golf Holidays have provided a £100 gift voucher.

Artisan Haircutters have provided a £50 voucher for a designer haircut.

The Peking Garden Restaurant in Moor Park, Northwood, has provided a £40 voucher for a meal for two.
